Sending Material to the Data Key Communications FTP Site
The following instructions outline the process for sending material via FTP to the Datakey Communications FTP site. The first section describes the process if you have an FTP client available on the system where the files exist. The second section provides a way to utilize a Web page to upload files if an FTP client is not available. Please note that both methods require a Username and Password provided to you by Data Key Communications which can be obtained by calling your contact.
Option 1: Using an FTP Client
1. Open your FTP client (such as WS-FTP on a Windows system or Fetch on a Macintosh).
2. For the host name, enter ftp.datakeyllc.com.
3. For the host type, select Automatically Detect.
4. For the User ID and Password, enter the username and password provided to you by Data Key Communications. Note that these are always lower case letters.
5. Make sure that Anonymous Login is NOT checked.
6. Press OK (or whatever button your FTP client provides to initiate the login.
7. Proceed to navigate your way to the location where the files are stored on the system side of the transfer screen.
8. Mark and transfer the appropriate files.
9. Close your FTP client.
10. Call or send an email to your contact at Data Key Communications to let her/him know that new material has been sent to the FTP site.

Option 2: Using Internet Explorer (Windows Only)
1. Open Internet Explorer
2. In the browser Address line at the top of the window, enter ftp.datakeyllc.com and press the Enter key.
3. A white screen should appear with the FTP.DATAKEYLLC.COM address on the left hand side. At the same time, either a box will appear asking you to log in or error message will be displayed.
If the Login Box appears, continue to step 4 to log in.
If an error message box appears, click on OK in the box to clear the error message. Then, click File on the browser menu bar (top left corner) followed by Login As... on the drop down menu. The Login Box should now appear.
4. Log in to the FTP site by entering the Username and Password provided to you and press the Logon button.
If you have entered the information correctly, the logon box will disappear leaving a white screen (which may show some icons or labels for files which have been transferred to the site but not yet removed).
5. You are now ready to transfer files to the site. Open Windows Explorer to locate and select the files on your computer..
A. Select all files to be sent by holding down the CTRL key while clicking on the file names or icons. The selected files will turn blue.
B. The selected files may now be copied to the FTP site by dragging and dropping them on the Internet Explorer browser window or by using Copy & Paste commands. - To Drag & Drop, press and hold the left mouse button down while over one of the selected files and drag the file icon to the browser window. - To Copy & Paste, right click on one of the selected files then left click on Copy from the pop-up menu. Move your mouse pointer to the browser window, right click the mouse, and then left click Paste on the pop-up menu.
C. A status box will appear providing information on the progress of the transfer.
D. Once completed, the progress box will disappear and an icon or listing for the file(s) will appear in the browser window confirming that the file has been transferred.
E. Repeat as necessary for other files.
6. After all files have been sent, simply close the browser window to log off.
7. Call or send an email to your contact at Data Key Communications to let her/him know that new material has been sent to the FTP site.
Notes: - When you FTP a file, it makes a copy of the original file on your computer and does not remove or change it. |
