Where more than a single file will
be sent, all files should be collected and placed in a single folder
or compressed using Stuffit (Mac) or WinZip (Windows). The folder
or archive file should be named to reflect the name of the advertising
company. Please ensure that the names of the files you send do not
include special characters such as slashes, bullets or multiple
periods.
NOTE: Before
attempting to send a file, contact our Production Editor by calling
315-445-2347 to obtain a valid username and password for the FTP
site.
Using Fetch on a Macintosh
- Launch Fetch
- Make sure to set your Fetch preferences
to send files using Macbinary format. You can make sure your settings
are correct by going to the Customize menu, selecting "Preferences",
clicking on "Upload" and selecting
"Macbinary" in the default menu.
- Under the Customize Menu, select
"New Shortcut". A dialog box will appear requesting information
for the name of the shortcut, the host, the user id, the password
and the directory. These should be filled in as follows:
Name: Data Key Communications
Host: ftp.datakeyllc.com
User ID: (call to obtain)
Password: (call to obtain)
Directory: (leave blank)
- Under the File menu, select Shortcut
and then select the "Data Key Communications" shortcut.
- Send the folder
or file and then close the connection.
- Please be sure to call and let us
know that you have transferred the material, and then mail the
printed proof and checklkist.
Using WS_FTP on a Windows Computer
- Start
WS_FTP
- Make
sure that Binary or Auto is checked for the file transfer mode.
- Click
on Connect and then New to create a new profile. The fields on
the connect box will clear. Fill them in with the following information:
Profile: Data Key Communications
Host Name: ftp.datakeyllc.com
Host Type: (choose Automatic Detect)
User ID: (call to obtain)
Password: (call to obtain)
Account: (leave blank)
- Click
OK
- Send
the folder or file and then close
the connection.
- Please
be sure to call and let us know that you have transferred the
material, and then mail the printed proof and checklist.
Using Internet Explorer 5 or
later on a Windows Computer (Drag and Drop FTP)
- Open Internet Explorer and go to
ftp://ftp.datakeyllc.com.
- A blank screen will appear with
the site address and some related information on the left-hand
side.
- A login box may pop up asking for
your username and password. If not, click "File"
on the IE menu bar followed by "Login As
" on the
drop down menu and the box should appear.
- Enter the username and password
provided to you and click Login.
- If necessary, reduce the size of
the window to allow space on the screen. Then open Windows Explorer
and navigate to the directory where the file or folder you wish
to send is stored.
- Click on the file
or folder you wish to send and drag and drop it on the IE window.
- After the file transfer has completed
and the file appears in the IE window, simply close
that window to log out.
- Please be sure to call and let us
know that you have transferred the material, and then mail the
printed proof and checklist.
