Why are my CMYK pictures ending up as "Calibrated Color" or "LAB" in my PDF?
The most likely explanation is that your images had ICC profiles attached to them when they were saved from PhotoShop. These profiles follow the image in the file and attempt to force a color-managed workflow. Since we do not do any color conversions to the files we receive, these profiles can cause problems.

To correct this issue, please re-save the offending images in PhotoShop and make sure that "Embed Profile" and "PostScript Color Management" are not checked.

What are the most common reasons a file is rejected?
The most common reasons a file is rejected are as follows:
  • Unintended spot colors
  • Low resolution images
  • ICC profiles
  • TrueType fonts / Missing fonts
  • Any color mode other than CMYK or Grayscale for print publications
  • Any color mode other than RGB or Greyscale for online publications
  • Bleed & Trim sizes not correct
  • Elements out of safety margin
  • OPI is used
  • Excessively rotated and flipped images in Quark XPress.
