Overheard on the Blogs:

From the Welding & Gases Today Blog:
“If you’ve been paying attention to the news at all over the last few months, you’ve undoubtedly heard about the Chilean miners who have been trapped 2,000 feet underground for more than two months. So what does this have to do with gases and welding? With the tunnel being so narrow, any crumbling rocks near the top could have proved devastating to the recovery efforts. Thus, metal tubes were welded along the inside of the tunnel for several hundred feet. These had to be extremely strong welds because any failure could jeopardize the rescue mission.”
